Nutraceuticals are products derived from food sources with extra health benefits in addition to their basic nutritional value.

Amino Acids (x5)

High levels of arginine, isoleucine, leucine, lysine and valine, essential for the production of muscle tissue.

Beta Carotene (Vitamin A Precursor)

A safe and effective way to provide the building blocks for vitamin A, which is vital for vision, appetite and growth.

Betaine

Helps preserve the availability of essential amino acids methionine and choline for use within the body.

Biotin

Essential for the integrity of claws and coat, as well as the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels and condition.

Calcium

Essential as a major constituent of bones and required for muscle contractions (all movement), cell membrane function and enzyme regulation.

Collagen Matrix

Possesses great tensile strength and provides the framework that gives tissues their firmness and resilience. It is essential for connecting and supporting the bones, tendons, muscles and cartilage.

Curcumin

An active ingredient of the spice, turmeric. It is a natural and powerful antioxidant and supports the normal anti-inflammatory action of the body in conjunction with vitamins: C and E and selenium.

Folic Acid (Vit B9)

Helps produce healthy blood cells and used by the body to manufacture DNA.

Glucosamine (Vegetable Source)

Gives cartilage its structure and shock absorbing qualities. It is involved in the formation of cartilage, tendons, skin, bone and ligaments.

Glutamic Acid

A natural flavour enhancer and an important nutritional support for natural gut health during times of stress.

Oligosaccharides (Mannan) (Prebiotic)

Support the immune system by maintaining naturally high levels of macrophage activity to block harmful organisms, being absorbed into the bloodstream.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Crucial for maintaining the natural anti-inflammatory action of the body.

Hyaluronic Acid (Vegetable Source)

Involved in the structural formation of cartilage and helps to cushion and lubricate the joints.

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane)

Essential for the manufacture of collagen and a source of sulphur, which helps to form cross links with other molecules that maintain the strength and integrity of connective tissues.

Vitamin D3

Crucial for bone development. Also important for the immune system, fertility and the release of insulin.

A natural antioxidant and essential for the health of reproductive, muscular, circulatory and nervous systems and immune functions in the metabolism.

Explained - The 4 Active Nutraceuticals in the Oatinol Delivery System

Nutraceuticals are products derived from food sources with extra health benefits in addition to their basic nutritional value.

Oatinol is a natural high quality oil based concept developed by and unique to GWF Nutrition. When incorporated into the feed it supplies the following four active nutraceuticals to:

  • Maintain gut cell integrity.
  • Maintain the lining of the gut.
  • Support the immune system.
  • Aid the absorption of active ingredients, vitamins and trace elements.

Galactolipid Natural Emulsifiers

Galactolipids are a combination of sugar and fat molecules that create the perfect medium for the absorption of active ingredients across the gut wall.

Natural Tocotrienol Antioxidants

Tocotrienol antioxidants are a natural form of vitamin E. They are 40-60 times more readily available than other forms of vitamin E and help to maintain the integrity of the cells forming the lining of the gut to aid absorption.

Oat Derived Beta Glucans

Beta Glucans have prebiotic properties that support beneficial bacteria in the gut to promote healthy absorption.

Phospholipids

Phospholipids have emulsifying properties and have been shown to actively influence nutrient digestibility and absorption.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

When Can I Start Giving Joint Aid for Cats?

Joint Aid for Cats is a high specification supplement designed to offer comprehensive joint care for all cats. It can be fed from any age at the ‘General Support’ level to maintain freedom of movement and muscle condition throughout their lives.

For senior cats or those showing reduced muscle mass, Joint Aid for Cats is recommended to be fed at the ‘Full Support’ level.

Is Joint Aid for Cats Safe for Pregnant Cats?

Yes, Joint Aid is fine to use with pregnant or lactating cats.

Is Joint Aid Suitable for Kittens?

Although our supplements are suitable for all cats regardless of age or exercise level, we would suggest that very young kittens (under 6 months of age) will not need a joint care supplement unless there is injury or a family history of joint problems. However, using a joint supplement for general maintenance is a good way to help protect against joint issues in later life, particularly for cats prone to joint problems.

How Much Glucosamine is in Joint Aid for Cats?

Please see 'Product Information & Analysis' above. Where percentages are shown, simply use that figure to work out how much your cat would be getting per scoop.

For example:
1% in a 2g scoop = 0.02g or 20mg
2% in a 2g scoop = 0.04g or 40mg.

Can Joint Aid be Given Alongside Your Other Supplements for Cats?

Yes, you can give your cat Joint Aid along with any of our other cat supplements. There may sometimes be a crossover with ingredients, but your cat will simply pass any excess amounts and the chances of side effects are very small.

However, we would advise some caution with Raw Aid for Cats & Dogs, especially if you are also giving fortified complete feeds or other multivitamin & mineral supplements.

My Cat Refuses to Eat Joint Aid - What Can I Do?

Cats are led by smell when it comes to food and can be picky! If your cat won't eat Joint Aid for Cats sprinkled on their usual dinner, try mixing it with a little warm water and making a paste that you can add to their food. Pâté cat foods work best with the pellets mixed into them.

Does Joint Aid for Cats Contain Chicken?

Joint Aid for Cats is free from all animal by-products (land and marine) and is a 100% vegetable based formula.

Are There Any Likely Side Effects from Joint Aid for Cats?

Unless your cat has an allergy to any of the ingredients themselves, there are no known side effects from the product. Joint Aid for Cats contains glucosamine from a vegetable source so no shellfish is used.

Do You Use Green Lipped Mussel in Your Joint Care Supplements?

Green lipped mussels are one source of Omega 3 fatty acids used by some joint care supplements available today. We prefer to use another high quality source of Omega 3’s: hemp. Hemp Oil is probably the best source of Omega 3 fatty acids found in the plant world.

The unique combination found in hemp also allows your cat to produce other essential Omega 3 fats called EPA and DHA, both of which are normally only found in fish oils and are crucial for maintaining the natural anti-inflammatory action of the body.

How Do I Know if my Cat Needs a Joint Supplement?

If you notice that your cat is slower than they used to be or seems to be in pain when getting up from bed, for example, you may want to consider giving a joint supplement like Joint Aid for Cats. It provides both glucosamine and hyaluronic acid as well as muscle maintenance to support muscular structure and recovery.

If you suspect any health issues you should always consult with your vet first to get a proper diagnosis.
